Baptism:

If you would like to have your baby baptised, please speak with Fr Phil. You will need to attend a preparation meeting before fixing a date. These meetings are facilitated by a team of local catechists and ordinarily take place at St Alban’s Paris Centre on the second Sunday of the month, excluding April, August and December. You will find information leaflets in the porch.

First Holy Communion / First Forgiveness
Contact: May Suffield / Cindy Rowlands

The parish supports our parents whose children in Year 3 or above are ready to celebrate the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and First Forgiveness.

For children attending the parish primary school, SS Peter and Paul Catholic Primary, their catechetical preparation is coordinated through school in line with the home – school – parish model of working.

For children who do not attend the parish primary school, the parish offers a catechetical preparation programme, meetings usually take place in the parish room after the 11am Mass on Sunday mornings.

The two preparation programmes are run side by side, with First Forgiveness celebrated during Advent and First Holy Communion the following June.

Kay is responsible for the maintenance of parish records, in particular, the recording of Baptism details, the issuing of Baptismal certificates and the supply of copy certificates when requested. These records are updated when information is received from other parishes, i.e. Confirmation and Marriage.

Confirmation
Contact: Mick Brown

All young people in year 8 or above are invited to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Invitations are sent to year 8 students in St. Mary’s Catholic College and a general invitation is given through the parish newsletter.

A preparation programme is followed by all candidates following an initial meeting with Parents. The Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated in the Local Pastoral Area. Following the Sacrament, the young people will be invited to participate in one of the parish ministries as they become full members of our parish community.

Marriage

At least 6 months’ notice is required for couples wishing to get married and the preparation is arranged by Fr Phil. As well as individual sessions with him, all couples preparing for marriage have to attend a marriage preparation day run by a team of local catechists with other local couples preparing for the big day.

Bernie Brown and Val Ward are the parish Appointed Persons (Registrars).
